They got one win, but the opportunities were there for the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball team to pick up a couple more in a four-game road swing to Snead State and Gadsden State.
JDCC (4-12) split Tuesday's twinbill against Snead State with a 3-2 loss in the opener and a 10-5 victory in the nightcap.
The Lady Warhawks got three hits from Jayla Davis and Amberly Whitworth in game one.
Davis and Whitworth both had singles along with Tanna Fontes when JDCC took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Snead State had a 2-1 lead in the top of the third when Davis and Whitworth singled again along with Kayla Galloway to produce the tying run.
The game stayed tied until the bottom of the seventh when Snead State won the game with an error on a single followed by a game-winning RBI single.
Whitworth suffered the tough-luck loss, as she scattered six hits in six and two-thirds innings to go along with eight strikeouts.
JDCC scored a season-high 10 runs in game two when it notched a 10-5 victory.

Whitworth worked the final three innings and struck out three to get the win.

The Lady Warhawks got a double from Jayla Davis and singles by Galloway, Whitworth, Jerri Edwards, Fontes and Erica Davis.

Gadsden State erased that lead when it plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second to tie the game at 3-3. The home team took the lead for good when it scored twice in the third inning to go up 5-3.
The only other JDCC had after the two it got in the first inning came in the sixth when Edwards singled and later scored to pull the Lady Warhawks within 6-4 at that point.
