The return to action for the W.S. Neal High School golf program has been a slow, learning process.
W.S. Neal has not fielded a team since 2004 due to a lack of interest among students. When the school announced it would try to field a team for this spring, seven students announced their commitment to the program.
The Blue Eagles roster consists of two seniors, one junior, two sophomores, one freshman and one eighth grade student. No girls signed up to play.
No schedule has been put in place although Hathcock would like to see his players begin match competition in late March or early April.
W.S. Neal has declared itself eligible for Class 4A sectional competition with the Alabama High School Athletic Association, which will be held at Andalusia. Teams must participate in seven regular season matches in order to be eligible to compete.
in regard to playing in the
sectional, but I don't know if
we'll participate or not. We'll see how things go between now and then and make a
decision later on,” said Hathcock.
