The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers inflicted a lot of growing pains on first-year program Hillcrest-Evergreen Thursday, as they needed just two and half innings to ambush the visiting Lady Jaguars 20-0.
T.R. Miller sent 23 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning when it scored 19 runs.
Just in the first inning alone Natalie Neal had a pair of singles, two RBIs and scored three runs. Leslie Nalty clubbed a pair of doubles, drove home three runs and scored three runs. Leah Brundidge had a single and a two-run triple. Neal added a double in the second inning to her two first inning hits and another RBI. Rachel Bostic also joined the two-hit club for the game in the second inning when she picked up her second single. Bostic also had two RBIs for the game. Haley Gibson, and Keyetta Jones also contributed a hit in the victory.
Lady Tigers starting hurler Brandi Kennedy and relievers Bostic and Nalty combined on a no-hitter. Each pitcher worked one inning. Kennedy fanned two in a perfect frame. Bostic, who got credit for the victory, struck out the side and walked one. Nalty struck out two of the three batters she faced.
T.R. Miller's junior varsity travels to Carver Thursday for a doubleheader that gets underway at 4 p.m. The varsity squad is off until March 27 when it heads to Escambia County for a 4 p.m. game.
