Early season tournament play continued to take its toll on the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers softball team, as they dropped two of three games at the Andalusia Tournament over the weekend.
T.R. Miller, which dropped both of its games at the Thomasville Tournament the previous weekend, opened play Friday with a 5-1 loss to Geneva County.
Leah Brundidge had a pair of hits to lead the Lady Tigers and scored their lone run.
Brandi Kennedy took the loss.
T.R. Miller (2-4) bounced back with a 15-0 win over Red Level Saturday in a game that lasted just four innings. The Lady Tigers raced out to a 6-0 lead in their first at-bat and tacked on two more runs in the second and third innings. A five-run rally in the top of the fourth kicked the mercy rule into effect.
Natalie Neal led T.R. Miller with three hits, while Amelia Couture, Leslie Nalty and Brundidge all had two. Shandreka Foster added a homerun.
Nalty tossed a shutout to get the win.
The Lady Tigers concluded the tournament with a 15-1 loss to Opp.
Opp broke a 1-1 tie with an eight-run uprising in the top of the third. Opp finished things off with three runs in its final two-at-bats to end the game on the mercy rule after five innings.
Nalty suffered the loss.
T.R. Miller's junior varsity plays a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Carver Thursday. The varsity is off until March 27 when it travels to Escambia County for a 4 p.m. contest.
