JDCC's Johnson receives Region, All-South honors
Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks basketball player DaWaun Johnson has been named to the Alabama Community College Conference south division First Team and the All-Region 22 Second Team.
Johnson, a former T.R. Miller Tiger, led the Warhawks in scoring this past season with 418 points, an average of 16.1 per game. Johnson also led JDCC in free throw percentage at 75 percent (59-for-79) and three-point field goal percentage at 36 percent (35-for-98). Johnson shot 40 percent from the field overall (162-for-402).
Others on the All-South Team included Alabama Southern's Daryl Davis, Faulkner State's Josh Moore and R.J. Hoffer, Chattahoochee Valley's Dwight Tolbert and Stephan Pope, Enterprise's Derrick Webster, Southern Union's Larry Swain, and Wallace State-Selma's Ephraim Hudson.
Chattahoochee Valley's Richard Mahone was named the south division's Coach of the Year award winner.
Gadsden State's Roger Rich was named the Region 22 Player of the Year. Other members on the All-Region First Team include Wallace State-Hanceville's Cory Cooperwood and Jerrell Boswell, Alabama Southern's Daryl Davis, Faulkner State's Josh Moore, Bevill State-Sumiton's Jonathan Toles and Mondrae McCray, Chattahoochee Valley's Dwight Tolbert, Enterprise's Derrick Webster and Bevill State-Fayette's DeAndre Coleman.
