Lady Warhawks endure winless weekend at O-W

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball team fell victim to a broom job, as they were swept in all four games they played at the Okaloosa-Walton tournament over the weekend.
JDCC (6-22) opened play with a 5-2 loss to Rend Lake, Ill.
The Lady Warhawks were limited to three hits. Tanna Fontes had a pair of singles and Tiffany Cayson also had a single.
Amberly Whitworth was the losing pitcher.
JDCC's second game was a 7-1 loss to Johnson County, Ks.
Fontes, who scored the Lady Warhawks' lone run, and Cayson divided JDCC's two hits with one each.
Kim Carter was the losing hurler.
The Lady Warhawks concluded pool play with a 3-2 loss to Southeastern, Ia.
JDCC tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth on singles by Fontes, who had two of JDCC's three hits, and Cayson, but Southeastern snapped the deadlock with the go-ahead run in the bottom half of the inning.
Whitworth was the losing pitcher.
JDCC concluded tournament play with an 8-5 loss to Gadsden State.
The Lady Warhawks had their best offensive game of the tournament with six hits. Jayla Davis and Emily Davenport both had two, while Chasity Nicholson and Kayla Galloway both had one.
Whitworth dropped her third decision of the tournament.
The Lady Warhawks opened up Alabama Community College Conference south
division play Tuesday with a doubleheader at Faulkner State. JDCC continues league play Friday with a 1 p.m. twinbill
at Enterprise. JDCC has a home non-division doubleheader against Chattahoochee Valley Saturday that gets underway at 1 p.m.
