Mr. Daniel Lee Ferrell, 65, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at his residence in Huxford. He was a native of Escambia County, Ala., and worked as a tugboat pilot for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny DeWayne Ferrell, his parents, Elijah Franklin and Bonnie Lee Johnson Ferrell and 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hayles Ferrell of Huxford; two daughters, Debbie (Freddie) Hilburn of Little River, and Tammy (Troy) Barnes of Frisco City; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Inez Ferrell of Perdido, Eleanor (Tony) Flowers of Huxford, Phyllis (Archie) Ellerbee of Brooksville, Fla., Edward (Renie) Hayles of Serniah Springs, and Lamar Hayles of Eliska; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Cornelius Phillips officiating. Burial followed at Huxford Cemetery with Petty-Eastside directing. Pallbearers were Billy Ray Tyree, Terry Caraway, Bruce Ferrell, Dennis Ferrell, Virgil Ferrell and David Powell. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Hayles, Brandon Reed, Shannon Turberville, Larry Caraway, Ricky Powell and Lamar Hayles.
