The promise of inmate help, as well as trailers, trucks and delivery of trash to the landfill, has a group of concerned citizens excited about their endeavors.
During the group's organizational meeting on Thursday, Escambia County Sheriff Grover Smith agreed to support the group and their efforts to help clean up the area around Brewton.
The Thursday meeting was attended by a dozen people who feel the clean-up effort would be beneficial to the entire county. During the meeting, the group made a decision to limit the pick-up area to U.S. 31 and Alabama 41 beginning at the Brewton City limits and moving outward.
Smith said for safety reasons team members should take on one side of the road at a time on the day of the event.
The group is still seeking members for the team and remains open to suggestions on how best to handle the project. Anyone interested in joining the team should contact Dan Raulerson at 867-3606 or Scott Hillman at 809-8386. The group will hold their next planning meeting on April 3 at 7 p.m. in the education center/auditorium at D.W. McMillan Hospital.
