Mr. Stephen Lyle &#8220Steve” Whittaker, 40, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Conecuh County. He was a native of Milton, Fla., and had been a resident of Brewton for the past 12 years, coming from Century, Fla. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Baker, Fla. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dell Whittaker.
He is survived by his father, Vernie C. Whittaker of Brewton; his wife, Danner Anne Whittaker of Brewton; two daughters; one brother, Ray Whittaker of Birmingham and a sister, Sharon Slaey of Century.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. James Pugh, the Rev. Jerry Caylor and the Rev. Michael King officiating. Burial followed in Beaver Creek Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Joe Brown, Phillip Brown, John Lancaster, Mike Sawyer, Craig Vogt and Warren Kelly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Comfort Care Hospice.
