Mrs. Ina Maude Monk, 89, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, in a local hospital. She was a native of Galliver, Fla. and had been a resident of Brewton since 1947 coming from Flomaton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brewton, a former secretary for the American Red Cross, a life-time blood donor, served as a Pink Lady at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital and was a past member of the Civic League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Obed A. Monk.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Monk (Jimmie) Maddox and Janet Monk (Dennis) Dunaway, both of Brewton, and Melanie Monk (Dan) Morris of Montgomery; two sisters, Jutilda Benzel of Pace, Fla., and Libby Kimbro of Kinston; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 9, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Brewton with the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Gordon Batson, Larry Woodham, Tom Myers, Ferrin Cox, David Maddox and Mike Wallace.
