Eleven first place mark sparked the T.R. Miller Tigers track team to an easy victory in Thursday's five-team meet at Brewton Municipal Stadium.
The Tigers racked up 194 points en route to the victory. W.S. Neal was a distant second with 73, while Monroe County was third with 70. Jackson took fourth with 41, while Escambia County was fifth at 14.
Justin Gomez was the only double winner for the Tigers, as he took the shot put with a throw of 41-11 3/4 and the discus with a heave of 109-7.
T.R. Miller also won four other field events. Terrelle Brooks cleared 6-2 in the high jump, while Matt Lane went 40-10 in the triple jump. Madden McCall went 10-0 to take the pole vault, while Sam Sharpe unleashed a throw of 145-4 to win the javelin.
The Tigers got victories on the track from Bradley McCreary in the 400 meters at 53.16, Geoffrey Youngblood in the 800 meters at 2:08.5, Brandon Nelson in the 3200 meters at 11:32.09 and Keyara Matthews in the 300-intermediate hurdles with a time of 45.26.
T.R. Miller also won the 3200-meter relay with the team of Youngblood, Dakota Shultz, Deonte Powell and Kelly Stallworth with a time of 9:37.38.
W.S. Neal had two first place performances. Jonathan Alexander took the long jump with a leap of 20-8, while Jeremy Nicholson took the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.54.
W.S. Neal came out on top on the girls side with 77 points, while Escambia County was second with 49. The host Lady Tigers took third with 47 followed by Jackson in fourth place at 34 and Monroe County in fifth with 33.
Both T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal had two first place marks. Both of the Lady Tigers' wins came from Crystal Higdon, who claimed the 1600 meters with a time of 6:12 and the 3200 meters at 14:01.79. W.S. Neal got a victory from Rachel Davis in the discus with a throw of 60-4 and from Brianna Hawthorne in the javelin with a toss of 53-5.
