Both races in East Brewton Little League tightened Thursday.
The Cubs evened their regular season mark at 2-2 and moved to within a half-game of the league-leading Braves (2-1) with a 12-3 win over the A's (1-2) in the age 9-10 bracket.
The Dodgers (2-1) pulled to within a game of the idle Yankees (3-0) for the top spot in age 11-12 play, as they downed the Mets (0-4) 4-3.
Age 9-10
Braves 6, Cubs 4
BRAVES: Quantae Barksdale got the win, as he allowed one hit and struck out eight. Joseph Booker and Alex O'Keane both had a single and scored a run. Barksdale had a double and scored two runs. Lane Chavers and Franklin both scored a run.
CUBS: Brandon Lum had a triple. Mile Powell, Taylor Elliott and Emily Ann Cooper all scored a run.
INTERLEAGUE
(EB) A's 9, (B) Braves 3
(EB) A'S: Michael Williams and Dalton Shell teamed up on a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Robin Swift had two singles and scored three runs. Shell had a single, a double and scored two runs. Williams had a single and scored three runs. Justin Sessions had a single and scored a run.
(B) BRAVES: Larry Cheatham, D'Angelo Thomas and Keaton Parker all scored a run. Lucas Agerton had a single.
(EB) Braves 11, (B) Cardinals 5
(EB) BRAVES: Lane Chavers and Quantae Barksdale combined on a no-hitter. Chavers got the win and struck out two. Barksdale had six strikeouts. Joseph Booker had a single and scored three runs. Barksdale had a single and scored two runs. Alex O'Keane had a single and scored a run. Dillan Simmons, Chavers, Ashlyn Cain, Trey English and Matt Franklin all scored a run.
(B) CARDINALS: Jones Manning, Hunter Harp, Lowell Swain, Jake Najor and Patrick Ard all scored a run.
