Walking, tossing eggs and Moon pie eating are just some of the activities Relay for Life team members will be participating in Saturday as the 12th annual event gets under way on the campus of the Brewton Area YMCA on Belleville Avenue.
Relay Chairperson Wendi Huff said 12 teams are scheduled to participate in the culmination of a fund-raising event to benefit The American Cancer Society.
Traditionally, each team is made up of at least 10 members each, however Huff said the teams this year have surpassed the expected 120 members.
The lineup for entertainment and fun is extensive and holds some community favorites among the activities.
Huff also said the Relay Idol competition is a big hit with participants and visitors at the event.
Two emotional events are also planned as cancer survivors are recognized and those who have lost the battle with cancer are honored.
Huff said the luminaria are still available for purchase at $5 each.
