James Vernon Kraker

Mr. James Vernon Kraker, 84, died Thursday, May 3, 2007. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired after over 30 years as assistant plant manager of Koppers Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Abbie and Charley Kraker; three brothers, Willie, Gordon and Charley H. Kraker; four sisters, Ella Street, Minnie Turberville, Iris Hendrix and Hazel Williams and four nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Faye H. Kraker; two daughters, Jimmie K. (Glenn) Mullis, Linda K. (Greg) Howland; two grandsons, Kenneth E. Anderson and G.J. Howland Jr.; two step-grandsons, Steve Mullis and Zack Howland; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at Brooklyn with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Autumn Place Assisted Living, 5930 Main Street, Millbrook, Ala. 36054, attention Mrs. Tammie Silas.
