The Brewton City Council is considering new technology for the message center downtown that would add animated, full-color graphics to the information display.
The project could cost as much as $75,000, according to a proposal from a Michigan-based technology company, City Clerk John Angel told council members Tuesday.
Maintenance costs on the current, outdated system cost between $12,000 and $15,000 per year, Angel said.
Mayor Ted Jennings asked Angel to negotiate a payment plan with the company and report back to the council later.
