East Brewton second place teams close gap on leaders

Both second place teams in East Brewton Little League tightened their respective races with wins Thurday.
The Cubs got 15 strikeouts and two triples from Miles Powell to beat the Braves 5-1 in the Age 9-10 division. The Cubs (4-4) moved to within a half-game of the idle A's (4-3). The Braves (3-4) fell one game off the pace with the loss.
Hunter Mullins struck out eight, homered twice and singled to lead the Dodgers to a 5-0 win over the Mets in the Age 11-12 division.
The Dodgers (5-2) moved to within a game of the first place Yankees (6-1).
Age 9-10
Cubs 5, Braves 1
CUBS: Miles Powell struck out 15 and allowed just two hits to get the win. Powell also had two triples and scored two runs. Taylor Elliott had a single and scored a run. Brandon Lum and Nick Laster scored a run. Tristan Fore had a single.
BRAVES: Quantae Barksdale had a single, a double and scored a run. Joseph Booker had a single.
Age 11-12
Dodgers 5, Mets 0
DODGERS: Hunter Mullins struck out eight and allowed only two hits to get the win. Mullins also had a single, two homeruns and scored three runs. Trent Wright had a single and scored a run. Cam Blackman had a double. Shawn Lucas had a single.
METS: Dalton Evans and Casey Pittman had a single.
