Dates set for Baseball Underclassmen workouts
Dates and locations have been set for the Eighth Annual Alabama Baseball Coaches Association 2007 Underclassman Regional Workouts.
Members of high school classes in 2008, 2009 and 2010 are eligible to participate.
Skill sites for players from Escambia county schools are at Faulkner State College at Bay Minette on June 11, Enterprise-Ozark College on June 12, Central Alabama College at Alexander City on June 13 and Faulkner University at Montgomery on June 14. Players are allowed to participate at any of the four sites, but are limited to one workout date.
If a workout date is rained out, it will be held one week later.
The cost for players whose high school coaches are members of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association is $20. The cost for players whose high school coaches are not members of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association is $50.
Four teams of 20 players from both the north and south half of the state will advance to the Underclassman Weekend of Workouts and All-Star Games to be held at Troy University June 29-July 1.

football schedules
The 2007 football schedules for both Brewton Middle School and W.S. Neal Middle School have been announced.
Both teams will square off against each other in the season opener at Brewton on Sept. 6. The teams will meet again in the regular season finale at East Brewton on Oct. 18.
Additional games for Brewton include a trip to Ernest Ward on Sept. 13, a game at Carver on Sept. 20, a home game against Escambia County on Oct. 4 and a home game against Monroe County on Oct. 11.
Other games for W.S. Neal include a home game against Monroe County on Sept. 13, a home game against Escambia County on Sept. 20, a road game at Ernest Ward on Oct. 4 and a contest at Carver on Oct. 11.
W.S. Neal is also slated to play an exhibition home game against Andalusia on Aug. 23. That game will precede a high school varsity exhibition game between W.S. Neal and Andalusia.
Brewton Church League softball to have meeting
The Greater Brewton Area Church Softball League will hold an organizational meeting May 20 at 3 p.m. at the East Brewton Firehouse.
Any church which would like to participate this season needs to have a member representative at the meeting.
If someone from the church cannot attend and would still like to participate, contact Mike or Pam Driskell at 867-8969 (home) or 363-0103 (cell). One may also contact Joey Shell at 867-6112.
The team entry fee is $150.
JDCC left off all-state
tournament team
Jefferson Davis Community College's first appearance in the state tournament in three years was not reflected in the all-tournament team selections, as the Lady Warhawks failed to land any players on the team.
Wallace State-Hanceville's Courtney Underwood was named tournament most valuable player.
Other selections included Central Alabama's Holly Ragsdale, Maria Robinson and Sarah Moore, Bevill State's Melanie Carroll, Becca Thomas and Casey Bailey, Wallace State-Hanceville's Ashley Pratt, Hollie Hill, Lindsey McDaniel and Dandi Ammons, Calhoun's Stevie Griffin and Breanna Lee and Jefferson State's Alison Byrne.
