Justin Sessions and Dylan Godwin posted double-digit strikeout performances to lead their teams to wins and league-clinching victories in East Brewton Little League play.
Sessions and Robert Jones combined on a two-hitter and 12 strikeouts to lead the A's to a 7-0 win over the Braves to wrap up the Age 9-10 championship.
The Braves (3-5) could have forced a three-way tie with the A's and idle Cubs for the regular season championship with a victory. Instead the A's (5-3) won the title outright, while the Cubs (4-4) finished one game back.
Meanwhile Godwin and Brian Settle combined for 17 strikeouts to lead the Yankees to a 4-0, eight-inning win over the Dodgers to wrap up the Age 11-12 regular season title.
The game was scoreless until the top of the eighth when the Yankees, who had been shut out on only three hits prior to that inning, strung together five hits that led to the four decisive runs.
The Yankees, who struck out a combined 19 times against Hunter Mullins and Cam Blackman, finished league play with a 7-1 record. The Dodgers, who would have forced a tie for first place with a victory, finished two games back at 5-3.
