Dates set for Baseball
Underclassmen workouts
Dates and locations have been set for the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association 2007 Underclassman Regional Workouts.
Members of high school classes in 2008, 2009 and 2010 are eligible to participate.
Skill sites for players from Escambia County schools are at Faulkner State College at Bay Minette on June 11, Enterprise-Ozark College on June 12, Central Alabama College at Alexander City on June 13 and Faulkner University at Montgomery on June 14. Players are allowed to participate at any of the four sites, but are limited to one workout date.
The cost for players whose high school coaches are members of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association is $20. The cost for players whose high school coaches are not members of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association is $50.
Four teams of 20 players from both the north and south half of the state will advance to the Underclassman Weekend of Workouts and All-Star Games to be held at Troy University June 29-July 1.

Brewton Church League softball to have meeting
The Greater Brewton Area Church Softball League will hold an organizational meeting Sunday at 3 p.m. at the East Brewton Firehouse.
Any church which would like to participate this season needs to have a member representative at the meeting.
If someone from the church cannot attend and would still like to participate, contact Mike or Pam Driskell at 867-8969 (home) or 363-0103 (cell). One may also contact Joey Shell at 867-6112.
The team entry fee is $150.
Central Alabama pitcher leads All-Region team
Central Alabama freshman pitcher Holly Ragsdale has been named the Region 22 Softball Player of the Year.
Ragsdale has compiled a 28-1 record with a 0.46 earned run average. She has struck out 306 batters in 181 innings for a Central Alabama team that has compiled a 55-7 record and won the Alabama Community College Conference central division championship with a 16-0 record.
Ragsdale was joined on the First Team by Central Alabama teammates Sarah Moore, Leslie Pickette, Allie Bobo and Hillary Downs, Wallace State-Hanceville's Rachel Baucom and Ashley Pratt, Bevill State's Rebecca Thomas and Jemlia Owens, Gadsden State's Ashley Blankenship, Wallace State-Dothan's Jessica Banard, Darby Howell and Lacey Mardis, Faulkner State's Mallory Meadows, Calhoun's Breanna Lee and Lacey Keenum, and Shelton State's Nicole Velez.
Second Team members include Wallace State-Hanceville's Courtney Underwood, Enterprise-Ozark's Ashley Souders and Stephanie Baxley, Wallace State-Dothan's Whitney Hawkins and Samantha Calhoun, Jefferson State's Kayde Brasher, Alison Byrne, Chelsea Chamberlain and Nikki Thomas, Shelton State's Ashley Rawls and Allison Scogins, Central Alabama's Katie Ellis and Kayla Berry, Snead State's Katelyn Carter and Bevill State's Angelica Brown.
Jefferson Davis Community College did not have any selections to the First or Second Team.
