Mr. Andrew Lee &#8220Andy” Smith, 69, of Ballard Street, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Blacksburg, Va., and a former resident of Alexandria, Va., before moving to East Brewton in 1965. He was retired from Smurfit Stone Corporation as a machine tender with 39 years of service. He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite, member of American Legion Post 79, Norris Masonic Lodge 301 and a member of East Brewton Church of Nazarene. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hattie Smith, and a sister, Barbara Huffman.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elaine Hudson Smith of East Brewton; two sons, David (Candy) Smith and Sean (Anita) Smith, both of Brewton; six brothers, James (Jane) Smith of Hampton, Ga., Roger Smith of Riner, Va., Robert Smith and Thomas Smith, both of Christiansburg, Va., Charlie (Sandra) Smith of Blacksburg, Va., and Carlie (Loretta) Smith of Radford, Va.; four sisters, Becky (Ed) Thomas of North Tazewell, Va., Myrtle (Americo) DiCicco of Prior Lake, Minn., Edith Kelly of Cannon Falls, Minn., and Jane Jackson of Mobile; and two grandchildren, Megan Smith of East Brewton and Dylan Smith of Brewton.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Brother James Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
