ASU announces Brewton campus programs

Alabama State University's Southern Normal Campus in Brewton is announcing a summer full of enriching programs. The Southern Normal Campus will hold summer College of Education graduate classes, host General Education Development (GED) classes for Adults and 21st Century Summer Camp Programs for Brewton Middle School students, and begin recruiting for the Principals' Institute for School Reform.
General registration for graduate courses will be held at the ASU Acadome May 24-25 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Online registration is available May 24 -May 30, 2007. Classes begin May 29. For questions regarding registration, please call the Registrar's Office at (334) 229-4643.
The GED preparation and life skills classes are free and are year-round. The 21st Century Community Learning Center for Brewton Middle School students includes school year classes and summer camps. The Middle School Enrichment Program for Brewton Middle School fifth- through eighth-graders includes classes in science, math, fine arts, drama, etc. There will also be a basketball summer camp for fifth- through eighth-graders.
There is a $10 activities fee for each program. Summer camp programs will begin June 18, 2007. School year programs run from September 2007 to May 2008.
ASU's Southern Normal Campus is recruiting principals and educational leaders who aspire to become principals for the Principals' Institute for School Reform.
The Institute will provide selected school leaders with a diverse experience while providing exemplary professional development to meet personal and professional challenges in a climate of high expectations with a belief in best practices.
Participants will learn how to solve curriculum, instruction and student achievement problems. They will also examine the use of data to lead to change and how to maintain peer connections through mentoring and networking.
