Mr. James Ray Tindell, 72, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Coda Tindell and Letha Hawthorne Tindell; and his sister, Sylvia LaJune Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Tindell of Brewton; his daughter, Cheryl Tindell (Paul) Tripoli, two sons, James Dennis Tindell and Larry Eugene (Lisa) Tindell; a step-son, Joe (Vickie) Derrington; a step-daughter, Kaye (Gary) Derrington Stanley; a brother, James DeWayne Tindell; three sisters, Ruth (Daniel) Shockey, Pauline (Lewis) Hobbs, and Mildred (Gary) Byrd; his step-mother, Myrtis Tindell; grandson, Jason Stevens, Bradley Hamblin, Garrett Tindell, Landon Tindell and Robert Derrington; granddaughters, Alana Mock-Hamblin, Larissa Stanley, Riane Stanley, Liahnna Stanley, and Raelyn Stanley; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with the Rev. Earnie Calhoun and the Rev. Frederick Barrow officiating. Burial followed at Damascus Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Damascus Cemetery, Eastern Star Chapter 203, or Cancer Fund.
