Shell throws one-hitter as Braves win Advanced Babe Ruth League opener

Advanced Brewton Babe Ruth League teams came away with a split in Saturday's season-opening tournament at Flomaton.
The Braves got a complete game, one-hitter from William Shell in their 4-2 win over Flomaton.
The lone hit Shell, who struck out 10, allowed was a first inning single when Flomaton scored a pair of unearned runs.
The Braves tied the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning and took the lead with two more runs in the fifth.
Shell added a single, a double and an RBI in addition to his pitching contributions. The Braves also got a pair of singles from Jacob Cannon and a single by John Mathieu. James Hamric and Jimmy Conner both had one RBI.
Brewton's other entry, the Diamondbacks, suffered a 17-0 loss to Atmore. No other details were available at press time.
