Twins edge Nats, widen Brewton Babe Ruth lead

Lane Cross' RBI single in the bottom of the seventh plated Michael Kast and gave the Twins a 12-11 win over the Nationals Monday in a battle between the top two teams in the Brewton Babe Ruth League.
The first place Twins ran their record to 7-0 with the win and opened up a two-game lead overall and a three-game lead in the loss column over the second place Nationals, who fell to 6-3 on the season.
Monday's other game also had an exciting finish. Wil Riggs' RBI single in the top of the seventh inning drove home Parker Reiss to give the Marlins a 10-9 win over the Devil Rays.
The Marlins improved to 3-4 on the season and climbed into sole possession of third place with the win, while the Devil Rays slipped to 3-6.
Twins 12, Nationals 11
TWINS: Conner Denton struck out five and allowed three runs on five hits in three innings of relief to get the win. Denton was also a perfect four-for-four at the plate with four singles and three runs scored. Lane Cross, Jaren Jackson and Kameron Winn had two singles and scored a run. Dylan Smith scored two runs. Bradley Brown had a single and scored a run. Brian Sims had a triple. Michael Kast and Cameron Knowles scored a run. Darrion Salter had three singles.
NATIONALS: Hayden Cooper had a single and scored two runs. Joseph Strength had three singles and scored four runs. Robert Knowles had two singles, two doubles and scored two runs. Nick Moore had a single, a triple and scored two runs. Josh Palmer had three singles and scored a run. Devlin Crosby had two singles.
Marlins 10, Devil Rays 9
MARLINS: Stephen Warren struck out four and allowed four runs on seven hits in three innings of relief to get the win. Warren also had a double and scored a run. Wil Riggs had three singles and scored three runs. Spencer Waldrep and Dylan Bell had a single and scored a run. Bryant Jernigan had two singles and scored a run. Parker Reiss and Neill Morris scored a run. Edward Hines, Randy Davis and Reid Johnson had a single.
DEVIL RAYS: Dodson Herrington had two singles and scored three runs. Eli Tyree had a single, a double and scored a run. Cody Swain had a double and scored two runs. Ryland Dixon had two singles and scored a run. Harrison Horton, Jon Ellis and Gray McGraw had a single. Tyson Godwin had a single and scored a run. Trevor Diercks scored a run.
