William E. &#8220Bill” Grammer

Mr. William E. &#8220Bill” Grammer, 84, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, in Pensacola. He was a native of Tuscaloosa County. He was a retired Eastern Airline pilot, retiring in 1982 after 35 years of service. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He served in various positions with Eastern and was an F.A.A. authorized &#8220designee examiner.” He was promoted to captain in 1968 where he served as a line pilot, instructor and flight training manager until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Grammer; his mother, Bessie Grammer; three brothers, Hugh, Clarence and Perry Grammer; and three grandchildren, David and Greg Gay, and Jay Bennett of Newnan, Ga.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Chris Grammer of Milton; three daughters, Charlotte (Joel) Gay and Andrea Bennett of Newnan, and Sherrer Grammer of Jacksonville, Fla.; one son, Phillip T. Grammer of Washington, D.C.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth (Scott) Katz of Newnan and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Finklea officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
