YMCA summer day camp under way

The Brewton Area YMCA summer day camp is currently under way with the first session of the summer which began Tuesday.
The camp is set up in weekly sessions and will be held throughout the summer until the beginning of the school year.
Camp activities are offered for children kindergarten through sixth grade. Camp counselors will be involved in every aspect of the camp to ensure safety and supervision for campers.
Cost of the camp is $65 per week for members. Each additional child in the same family will receive a half-price rate. Non-member fees are $130 for each weekly session. All campers will be charged a one-time supply of $25 regardless of the number of weeks attending camp.
Campers are required to provide their own lunch. Lunch for campers will not be provided by the YMCA.
A wide variety of activities are planned during the summer camp sessions. Some activities will include swimming, indoor and outdoor activities, arts and crafts and character development activities.
Campers will be treated to occassional field trips for skating, movies and other off-campus events. Permission for field trips will be required.
Various programs will be held throughout the summer that may include archery instruction. Various other programs may also be made available on a semi-regular basis throughout the camp sessions.
Campers may be dropped off beginning at 7 a.m. each with with final pick-up at 6 p.m. Actual program activites are scheduled to begin daily at 8:30 a.m. with supervised free-play until activities begin.
