Escambia County voters approved a total of 4 mills for county and Brewton city schools Tuesday, reversing a vote last fall to renew two 80-year-old ad valorem taxes.
A 1-mill countywide tax and 3-mill district tax were overwhelmingly approved.
"This is a very positive statement for education in Escambia County," county Superintendent Billy Hines said after the votes were totaled.
