The Brewton Babe Ruth League will soon be deciding whether or not it will be fielding teams in each of the upcoming age 13, 14 and 15-year-old district tournaments.
While the league has 30 players in its age 13-year-old division, it has just 14 14-year-olds and 12 15-year-olds.
It would not be the first time if the league opts for two teams. However, it would be the first time Brewton Babe Ruth has not fielded three teams since it consolidated with East Brewton.
Players are allowed to play in their age division or older for all-star competition, but not in a younger division. Thus, if Brewton does not field a team of 14-year-olds, those players will be allowed to move up and play with the 15-year-olds.
While it is an option, Perry does not expect the league to bump up 13-year-olds to an older division.
The Brewton Babe Ruth League will be hosting the district tournament, which will get underway June 28. Times and pairings have not been announced.
The location, times and pairings have not been announced for the 14 and 15-year-old all-star districts.
While the future of this summer's Brewton Babe Ruth All-Star team for 14-year-olds remains unsettled, one all-star group that will not field a team this year is East Brewton Little League in the Age 10-11 division. East Brewton will field teams in the age 9-10 and 11-12 district tournaments.
The Little League district for 9-10-year-olds gets underway June 23 at the Brewton Area YMCA Park. The age 10-11 all-star district tournament also kicks off that day and will be be played at the Brewton Area YMCA Park. The all-star district tournament for 11-12-year-olds gets underway June 30 at Evergreen.
