Summer work will include a little bit of everything for the T.R. Miller Tigers football program this summer.
The Tigers began that part of their season schedule Tuesday with 55 varsity players in the program. An additional 30 freshmen are expected to participate in a both joint, but separate summer program.
T.R. Miller players are working out two hours two days a week during June and July. Sessions begin at 6:30 a.m. and run until 8:30 a.m.
Typical workout sessions will include one hour in the weight room followed by an hour with field activities.
Much of the field work will be in preparation for a seven-on-seven competition at Gulf Shores July 6.
T.R. Miller players will wear helmets throughout the summer with their field activities. The Alabama High School Athletic Association passed a law last summer that allows players to wear helmets during summer activities.
Most of T.R. Miller freshmen are participating in the varsity's field drills but not weight room work. The freshmen will also participate in a separate workout session with Brewton Middle School players on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. starting June 18.
