Ladies Blueberry Golf Classic turns 20

Ninety-six players and 48 teams helped the Ladies Blueberry Golf Classic celebrate its 20th edition Wednesday at the Country Club of Brewton.
Reynolds was assisted by tournament director and vice-president Cheryl Najor, secretary Sharon Wallace and treasurer Mary Shirley.
Players competed in six flights. The winning team for the first flight was Charlotte Wheeler and Bonnie Cook, both of Pace, Fla., who combined to shoot a five-under-par 67. Second place went to the team of Cheryl Hoffman of Lillian and Nancy Syphurs of Floey, who came in with a two-under-par 70. Third place went to the team of Marianne Wendel and Elizabeth Sabo, both of Niceville, Fla, who finished at one-under-par 71.
The first place team in the second flight was Kathy Neville and Sue Mahle, both of Gulf Breeze, Fla, who compiled a one-under-par 71. Jane McMillan and Kate Owens, both of Brewton, took second place with an even par 72. Dorothy Johnson and Gwen Donaldson, both of Cantonment, Fla., came in third with a score of 74.
The top team in the third flight was Shirley Ann Hager and Melanie Morris, both of Montgomery, who had a winning score of 76. Bonney Hanson and Fran Jacobs, both of Niceville, finished runner-up with a score of 78. Susan Hirsch of Foley and Pam Nuottila of Gulf Shores shot a 79 for third place.
First place in the fourth flight went to Sherry Key and Elise Bass, both of Solutia, with a score of 77. Jane Bamping of Glen Lakes and Lavyon Duncan of Lakewood took second at 81. Judy Beard and Chloette Bass, both of Foxwood, took third at 82.
The team of Frances Sellers and Cheryl Najor, both of Brewton, won top honors in the fifth flight with a score of 75. Carol Hancock and Pat Frederking, both of Mobile, took second at 77. Martha Hamman and Ruth Caraway, both of Solutia, came in third with an 83.
The sixth flight was won by the duo of Betty Kincaid and Earline Locke, both of Mobile, with a score 82. Geraldine Horton and Deloris Finklea, both of Brewton, came in second at 87. Donna Cataldo and Karen Reynolds, both of Brewton, came in third with a round of 89.
Winners in the closest to the pin competition were Jackie Gay of Pensacola, Fla, Jean Wiggins of Opp, Judy Watson of Pensacola and Barbara Gates of Crestview, Fla.
Longest drive winners were Elsie Bass of Pace and Dorothy Johnson of Cantonment.
