Rosters set for Little League 9-10s, 10-11s
The rosters have been announced for the Brewton Little League age 9-10 and age 10-11 all-star teams as well as East Brewton's Little League age 9-10 all-star team.
Members of Brewton's age 9-10 team include Chris Jones, Jones Manning, Patrick Ard, Hunter Harp, Jake Najor, Kellyn Winn, Tyler Reid, Trin Miller, Lucas Agerton, Larry Cheatham, Lowell Swain, Dylan Etheridge and Keaton Parker.
Brewton's manager will be Mark Manning. He will be assisted by Lew Najor and Thomas Harp.
Players on Brewton's age 10-11 team include Darby Black, Taylor Cordell, Ryann Gray, Zac Griffin, Landen Huff, Dominique Jackson, Dedrionne Lee, Caden Lodge, Paxton Reiss, Trey Salter, Kieon Smith and Rob Stokes.
Chris Griffin will be the manager for the Brewton squad. Assistant coaches will be Carl Lodge and Doug Black.
East Brewton's age 9-10 roster includes Alex O'Keane, Miles Powell, Lane Chavers, Tyler Joyner, Justin Sessions, Taylor Elliott, Robin Swift, Michael Williams, Rob Jones, Nick Laster, Dalton Shell and Quantae Barksdale.
East Brewton will be managed by Bo Sessions. Assistant coaches are Robert Jones and Howard Joyner.
Rosters for Brewton and East Brewton's age 11-12 all-star teams will be announced next week.
District play for the age 9-10 and 10-11 tournaments gets underway June 23. Those tournaments will be hosted at the Brewton Area YMCA Park.
The district tournament for the age 11-12-year-olds starts June 30 and will be played at Evergreen.
Dates and locations have been set for the state tournaments at the three Little League levels.
The state tournament for 9-10s will be at Sheffield and will start July 7. The state tournament for 10-11s will be at Jackson and will start July 14. The state tournament for 11-12s will be at Mobile and will start July 14.
JDCC basketball adds pair to recruiting class
The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks basketball team has added two more members to its 2007-08 recruiting class.
JDCC has signed Markeda Frye, a 5-10, 160-pound point guard from Woodham High School in Pensacola, Fla.
JDCC has also signed D'Angelo Kirkland, a 6-5, 180-pound forward/center from Pensacola's Tate High School.
Frye and Kirkland are the fourth and fifth players Gainer has inked so far for next season. Earlier JDCC signed William DuPont, a 6-1, 170-pound guard from West Florida Tech, Jesus Trejo, a 6-8, 230-pound center from Methuen, Mass., and Austin Hardiman, a 6-6, 235-pound forward from Good Hope.
