Mrs. Gulma Vesta Thorton, 96, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at an Atmore hospital. She was a native of Chilton County, but had resided in Flomaton community since 1966. During her working years, she worked as a weaver at Avondale Mills in Sylacauga. She was a member of Flomaton First Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Preston) Hardy of Flomaton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were W.T. Gafford, Jack Holly, James Strickland, Michael Hardy, Chuck Rackard and Larry Jeona.
