Mrs. Effie Moye Overstreet Parker, 99, of Andrew Jackson Street in East Brewton, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at the home of her son in Pike Road. She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of East Brewton, and a retired fifth grade teacher at W. S. Neal Elementary School with 19 years of service. She also operated Jack and Jill Kindergarten in East Brewton for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. C. Parker.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Johnnie) Parker of Pike Road; two granddaughters, Angela (Mike) Hand of Wetumpka, and Cynthia (Mark) Langley of Millbrook; three great-grandchildren, Melanie (Joe) of Montgomery, Adam Langley of Kennesaw, Ga., and Alan Hand of Montgomery.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at East Brewton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Shaddock officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of East Brewton organ fund.
