An East Brewton man was arrested Friday after Andalusia police said they caught him and another man stealing vintage cars for scrap metal.
A spokesman for the Covington County Sheriff's Office said John McDuffie, 28, of Andalusia and Shelton Thomas, 26, of East Brewton traveled to a residence on Plywood Mill Road where they stole a 1986 Chevrolet Caprice and a 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442.
From there, the two traveled to a local metal place where the cars were sold and crushed for cash, the spokesman said.
After leaving the metal business, the men returned back to the residence on Plywood Mill Road where they attempted to steal a 1983 Dodge Charger.
Both McDuffie and Thomas were transported to the Covington County Jail and held on a $60,000 bond.
