We need to put best foot forward

On the heels of one of the most successful and well-attended blueberry festivals in recent memory, Brewton has another opportunity in the near future to show off its hospitality.
The city will host a number of baseball tournaments in coming weeks, including the Babe Ruth Advanced state tournament, which will bring several teams from across Alabama to our community.
While parents and players are in our city, they will likely be staying at our hotels, eating in our restaurants and shopping at our stores and gas stations.
That's a great opportunity for us to reap some sales tax benefits from a popular summer activity.
But hosting state tournaments can have a much more lasting effect for our community.
We have the chance to put our best foot forward - to show folks that Brewton truly is a great place to visit and an even better place in which to live.
Kudos to the team that helped land the state tournament for Brewton. It's a testament to their hard work in the Babe Ruth organization.
Now that they have made the effort, the rest of us need to step up and help out.
When the tournaments are in town - one begins this weekend, by the way - we need to make sure that we are as helpful as we can be to our visitors.
If you see someone who needs directions, help them out. If you notice someone driving a little slowly as they try to find their way around town, try not to get impatient.
If you meet our visitors at stores or restaurants, be hospitable. That shouldn't be too hard for most of us in Brewton - you'd be hard-pressed to find a friendlier community.
We have so much to offer visitors, and these tournaments are a great chance to show that off.
