Wreck kills Castleberry man

A one-vehicle accident Sunday killed a Castleberry man, state troopers reported Monday.
Thomas Earl Powell, 61, was driving his 1971 Chevrolet pick-up west on Conecuh County Road 6 at approximately 6:45 a.m. when his vehicle apparently left the highway and hit a tree, trooper reports said.
According to the Alabama Trooper Information Officer Cpl. Tracy Nelson, Powell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Trooper Willie Locke is the investigating officer, and the accident is still under investigation.
According to Presley-Fluker Funeral Home officials, the funeral will take place Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Second Marietta Baptist Church in Castleberry.
