East Brewton officials will be targeting abandoned vehicles and warning owners to move them or risk being fined and having them towed away.
The city council on Monday discussed the problem of these vehicles being abandoned in the city. City council members said the abandoned cars create an eyesore in the community.
Council members decided to give the owners of these vehicles 15 days to move them. After that they will be marked with an orange sticker, and seven days later they will be towed.
The council also opened sealed bids for the sale of a used city car.
There were two bids made, and the highest bidder was Police Chief B.C. Cooper with a bid of $1,500, while the other bid was for a little more than $500.
East Brewton City Clerk Karen Singleton said the celebration of the Fourth of July was a big success, despite the rains that fell.
