Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball pitcher Amberly Whitworth will be continuing her career next season with the University of Mobile Lady Rams.
Whitworth, a righthander from Bessemer, sported a 2.56 earned run average in 278 innings of work this spring although a lack of run support left her saddled with an 11-22 record with one save. Whitworth, who was an Alabama Community College Conference South Division Second Team choice this past season, allowed 179 hits and struck out 109. She added 17 RBIs at the plate and a .225 batting average (23-for-102).
Whitworth will be reunited at Mobile with former JDCC pitcher Nikki Nadden.
While Whitworth will enter Mobile as a junior from an academic standpoint, she still has three years of athletic eligibility left. Whitworth was redshirted as a freshman at JDCC when she missed nearly the entire season with a broken finger.
Mobile went 36-17 this spring and advanced to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament.
