JDCC softball signs Southern Union player
The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball team has added Shanelle Bradshaw to its roster for the 2008 season.
Bradshaw, a 5-5 middle infielder and outfielder, played last season at Southern Union College. Bradshaw appeared in 45 games last spring for the Lady Bison and batted .180 (nine-for-50) with three RBIs.
Bradhsaw, who played high school ball at Geneva County, has a connection with the JDCC program. Her identical twin sister, Brittany, was an outfielder with the Lady Warhawks last season. Both Bradshaws will be sophomores next season.
Middle school football season schedules set
The area middle school football league schedule is set.
Flomaton, Excel and Jay, Fla. have dropped out of the league group in order to play grade 8-9 football. Ernest Ward is a newcomer to the group that also includes Brewton, W.S. Neal, Escambia County, Monroe County and Carver.
Each school plays six games, one game against the other five members and a second game against a designated opponent.
One game not on the league schedule is an exhibition game between W.S. Neal and Andalusia. That contest will be played at East Brewton Aug. 23 prior to the high school exhibition game between those schools.

Brewton Youth Football
accepting registration
The Brewton Youth Football League is still accepting player registration for the upcoming season.
Practice begins Monday. Registration will be accepted until Aug. 8. Players age 6-12 are eligible.

T.R. Miller is slated to kick off its B team football schedule Sept. 4 with road trip to Opp.
