New faces will soon be seen at the Brewton Medical Center one day a week.
D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital and Encore Sports Medicine have announced plans to bring a group of orthopedic surgeons to Brewton beginning Monday.
Dr. Albert Haas, Dr. Todd Engerson and Dr. Trey Baird began their association with the Brewton area on Tuesday, July 24, when Haas and Baird joined other local physicians to perform annual physicals for local high school athletic programs. Engerson was in Grove Hill helping the physicians there do similar exams.
The physicians are all part of a team of board certified orthopaedic surgeons with Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine of Mobile. They have experience in arthroscopic surgery; joint replacement; hand, foot and ankle surgery, and they will join Encore Rehabilitation to offer the services that have been available only in larger cities.
Alyssa Wilson, a board certified athletic trainer and Brewton native, has joined the Encore Sports Medicine team and will assist in any training needs with local high school athletic programs. She will be based in Brewton.
Haas also has a connection with Brewton. He is married to Ann Stokes, the daughter of Roy and Bobbie Stokes of Brewton. His father-in-law was full of praise.
Haas and Engerson were in surgery and seeing patients and could not be reached for comment.
Baird grew up in Montgomery, graduated from Birmingham-Southern College and medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also did his orthopaedic residency at UAB.
The three physicians will come to Brewton on a rotating basis. Beginning Monday, they will be available at the Brewton Medical Center. Appointments can be made at 1-800-854-4884.
