An exhausted Barbara Ewing reached the top of a tall ladder Sunday afternoon.
Then she hammered a nail into the last shingle on her Habitat for Humanity house on Lovelace Avenue in Brewton.
Habitat dubbed the blitz “Building on Faith,” thanks to the participation of seven churches in the Brewton area.
In three days, dozens of volunteers built two houses, complete with shingles, siding, wiring and landscaping. Hired crews will work in coming weeks to install drywall, flooring cabinets and appliances.
Habitat will continue work on the two houses in coming weeks, with volunteer work days scheduled for Thursdays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested can meet at 729 1/2 Sowell Road accross from Baptist Hill Baptist Church.
For more information contact the Greater Brewton Habitat for Humanity office at 867-0095.
Habitat will dedicate its 11th home, a renovation for the Carol Barton family, at 3 p.m. Sunday at 818 Conoley Ave.
