Mr. Thomas “Tom” Perry, 86, died Monday, July 30, 2007, in a medical facility. He was a longtime resident of Brewton and had lived in Auburn for the past year. He retired from Southern Pine Electric-Coop where he served as manager and chief executive officer for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a meteorologist during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brewton for more than 50 years where he was an active deacon. He was also a member of several civic organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Avant Perry of Auburn; two daughters, Susan (Ken) Rogers of Auburn, and Ann (Gary) East of Huntsville; two sons, Michael Wiley Perry of Seattle, Wash., and Donald Avant (Kay) Perry of Lynchburg, Va.; a brother, James H. Perry; his grandchildren, David Rogers, Ben Rogers, Steven Perry, Joseph Perry, Emily Eckley and Andrew East; two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 3, at 9 a.m. at Town Creek Cemetery in Auburn with the Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating and Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home directing. A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 4, at First Baptist Church of Brewton with Chaplain Tommy Smith officiating.
