James Thomas &#8220Jim” Vagenas

Mr. James Thomas &#8220Jim” Vagenas, 76, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his residence. He was a native of Davenport, Iowa and had been a resident of Panama City for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving 24 years in the Pacific, Mediterranean and Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. After retirement from the military in 1972, he held several civilian jobs in the Panama City area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Zenovia Vagenas; his brother, George; and his sister, Gloria.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (formerly Haigler) Vagenas; his daughters, Sara (Ron) Klein of Pender, Neb., and Ginger (Paul) Jones of Pacifica, Calif.; his son, Michael (Cindy) Vagenas of San Ramon, Calif.; grandchildren, Todd (Karen) Campbell, Elizabeth (Hal) Kravig, Leigh Campbell, David Vagenas and Aled Jones; a sister, Vicki (Al) Bowie of Ontario, Calif.; a brother, Peter (Robin) Vagenas of Newark, Del.; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A full military memorial service was held Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Panama City with the Rev. Allen Newton officiating and Heritage Funeral Home directing.
