It was just over a year ago Britney Shelly found out she was going to coach the W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagles volleyball team. It was unchartered territory for Shelly, who had never played let alone coached volleyball before.
Shelly was hired last year at a point where it was too late for her to have any input or impact with the team’s summer program. This year Shelly used a combination of old and new ideas with her first summer with the program.
One of those new items was the team’s recent participation at the University of Alabama Team Camp.
W.S. Neal players worked out twice a week during the summer, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Shelly said the summer was a very important time for her program due to the expected youth it will have this season.
Shelly said the summer was also an important time for her club to work together due to its inexperience for this season.
One item Shelly said her team battled with his summer work was intense heat in the W.S. Neal Gym.
