General Dees Jr., 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007. He was a native of Castleberry and was preceded in death by his parents, General Dees Sr. and Catherine Ferguson Dees; a brother, George; and two sisters, Cary Dees and Cornelius Dees Franklin.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie Mae Dees of Pensacola; a sister, Charlotte Travis of Castleberry; a daughter, Rosemary King of Michigan; several grandchildren; and a number of other friends and family members.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at Presley-Fluker Funeral Chapel at Brewton with the Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
