Football season kicks off
High school football season officially kicks off Friday night, although W.S. Neal got a jump on the action with a preseason game against Andalusia Thursday evening.
Despite that low-scoring – make that no-scoring – game, the action on the field was a great taste of what's to come this season. Our two local teams have been practicing hard – under some awfully hot conditions – to get ready for their opponents this year.
But as we all prepare to cheer on our favorite teams, we'd do well to remember that what is most important for these young players is not the winner or loser of the games.
