Wreck kills local man

A head-on collision claimed the life of an East Brewton man Sunday night near Molino, Fla.
Patrick K. Hynes, 49, was pronounced dead by Escambia County, Fla., EMS workers following an accident just after 10 p.m. Sunday night.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Hynes was traveling the wrong-way in the northbound lane on U.S. Highway 29 just south of Mathison Road near Molino, Fla. His 1997 Lincoln crashed into a 1994 Nissan driving by Michael Odom, 44, of Pensacola, Fla. Odom was also killed in the accident, as was a passenger, Kenneth Lynn Odom, 44, of Cantonment, Fla. A second passenger, Ricky Cook, 17, of Cantonment, Fla., was taken to West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., where he was listed in critical condition following the accident.
Cpl. B.O. Davis of the FHP said tests are being conducted to determine of alcohol was a factor in the case. The case remains under investigation.
