The W.S. Neal Lady Blue Eagle volleyball team rallied to win three straight games after losing game one to defeat archrival T.R. Miller 3-1 Tuesday night at W.S. Neal.
With the win, W.S. Neal improved to 4-2 on the season while T.R. Miller fell to 8-3.
After losing game one 16-25, the Lady Blue Eagles won the next three games by scores of 25-20, 28-26, and 25-19 in the finale to win the match 3-1.
T.R. Miller’s loss ended their five-game win steak. Tiger head coach Greg White said the game was just not a good one for his squad.
The Tigers seemed to ready to extend their winning streak in the first game as they opened up the game on a 6-2 run courtesy of some key service points and aces by Morgan Hubbard.
W.S. Neal tied the game up at 6-6 thanks to the serving of Casey Wilson.
The Tigers were able to take a 9-6 lead and then a 12-8 lead before W.S. Neal closed the gap to 12-11.
After the Tigers took a 22-16, Brandi Kennedy’s serving was able to help the Tigers take the 25-16 win.
In game two, W.S. Neal started the game on a 4-0 run before extending their lead to 8-3 forcing the Tigers to call a quick timeout. After the timeout, T.R. Miller came out firing as they closed the gap to 11-8 before eventually tying the game at 14-14. W.S. Neal then added to their lead thanks to some serving aces by Sydney Andrews. That extended the Neal lead to 18-14 on their way to a 25-20 win in game two that tied the match at 1-1.
Game three was one for the books, as it seemed like no one wanted to win the game. After flip-flopping leads all the way to 23-23, the two teams alternated points between each other until the Blue Eagles finally took the game 28-26 to lead the match at 2-1.
Needing only one more win to clinch the match, W.S. Neal raced out to a 10-4 lead in game four.
After a 21-12 W.S. Neal lead, Miller narrowed the score to 24-19 before Neal won the last point and took the 25-19 victory en route to the 3-1 match win.
T.R. Miller will be back in action on Tuesday when the team travels to Clarke Country. Game time will be at 5 p.m. with the JV and the varsity action beginning at 6 p.m.
W.S. Neal will not be back in action until Monday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Andalusia for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
