When we sent out a call at the beginning of the summer for entries in our new photo contest, we had no idea what kind of response we might get.
Dozens and dozens of entries later, we knew it would be harder than ever to choose the best ones. But our contest winners finally will be announced in Sunday's edition.
We would love to print all of the photos, but with so many entries, we won't be able to do all of them justice. We will print a representation from every person who entered the contest.
I can tell you from looking at all of the entries that we have some very talented people in our community - people who have an eye for unique scenes, poignant family moments and unusual spots.
I'm so excited about the response we received from our readers. Helping you share your favorite photos - whether it's for a contest like this, or for announcements of school or church news, birthdays or anniversaries - is one of the greatest treats we have as a community newspaper.
I want to remind you that you can always submit your photos for a feature on our page 3A every week. &#8220Your Take” is an opportunity to share family snapshots, school candids or simply the beautiful flowers in your backyard. You can e-mail those photos to newsroom@brewtonstandard.com, or you can just drop them off at our office on St. Nicholas Avenue.
And of course we have several other ways for you to share your photos. We always welcome school news, church news or business announcements, as well as children's birthdays and engagement, wedding, anniversary or birth announcements.
Our community newspaper is a way to share what's happening in all of our lives. We want to help you get your news into the newspaper as often as we can.
