Mrs. Ruth Olene Strength Cooper, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007. She was a native of the Pineview community and graduated from Flomaton High School. She also graduated from Mobile City Hospital’s nursing program and was one of the first women admitted to Springhill College during her nursing training. She worked at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She was retired from the naval reserve and for the past 40 years has been doing charitable work in various organizations. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Albert S. Cooper Jr. of Spanish Fort; a brother, Byron Strength of Brewton and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Jerry Bell, Seth Bell, Steve Strength, Charles Godwin, Tim Godwin and Gordon Godwin.
